Webinar: Public Benefit Partnerships for Children’s Services

Event Date: 08.07.2021 |Time: 10.30am-12.00pm |Categories: Events

For those in public authorities exploring new ways of improving Children’s Services, based on creating long term partnerships with social enterprises and charities, this webinar will be of interest to:

  • Directors of Children’s Services
  • Lead council members responsible for Children’s Services
  • Commissioners
  • Procurement and Legal teams
  • Social enterprises & charities working with children & families

There is widespread acceptance that the current ways of providing services for children at risk and looked after children are not working well. The Competition and Markets Authority is currently investigating the high prices paid by local authorities and the inadequate supply of children’s placements. Partnership models based on aligned public benefit purpose offer a clear alternative.

With a mixture of case studies and expert commentary, this webinar will explore alternative ways of developing service provision that can provide better services and better value for the public purse. Participants will learn about the ground-breaking Children’s Innovation Partnership created by Leicestershire County Council and Barnardo’s and the work of Kibble, one of the UK’s most successful social enterprises, supporting children with their unique approach to partnership. There will also be the chance to put questions to our expert panel.

Speakers include:

  • Julian Blake, Partner, Stone King
  • Jonathan Bland, MD, Social Business International Ltd. (Chair)
  • Kathy Evans, Chief Executive, Children England
  • Councillor Cordelia Law, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Torbay Council
  • Mark MacMillan, Director of Corporate Services, Kibble
  • Liz Perfect, Assistant Director, Barnardo’s (seconded from LCC)

Participants will also get to learn more about the E3M Procurement to Partnership toolkit and how E3M can support new innovation in this field.
