Interviews from Growing the New Economy

Some of the participants and speakers at our Growing the New Economy event reflect on why they were so excited to attend, what they have learned and crucially, how they will put this into practice to help revitalise the communities in which they work.

Around 250 participants came from all over the UK and worked together to shape a future vision for place-based, co-operative and social enterprise innovation, supporting clear, viable alternatives to the traditional economic models and policies that have failed to serve people and communities in so many parts of the UK.

This short film includes interviews with Vidhya Alakeson, Jenny Sansom and Bonnie Hewson of Power to Change, Neil McInroy of CLES, Kate Welch of Acumen, Andrew O’Brien of Social Enterprise UK, Carolyn Wilkins of Oldham Council, Ed Mayo of Co-operatives UK, Amanda Bouttell of West Lindsey District Council, Huw Davies of Dyffryn Ogwen, Abdul Jabbar of Oldham Council, Liz Ramsden of Wigan Council and Paul Gerrard of the Co-op Group.
