It was on the basis of those promises that tenants voted in favour of the transfer. In the first five years since transfer, the Trust successfully delivered all those promises, including the following: All homes were brought up to Decent Homes standard, with £43 million invested in improvement work Services were improved significantly, such as those dealing with antisocial behaviour New homes were planned and built across the region, to provide high quality, affordable housing for those in need Peaks & Plains makes significant contributions to the local community, including supporting the Gawsworth village shop, working in partnership with a wide number of local charities and community organisations, supporting local social enterprises such as Cre8 Works, and providing work placements and apprenticeships for young people. The success of the organisation was recognised by the government’s Audit Commission, who inspected the Trust in 2009 and rated it in the top 10% of housing associations nationally.
